Football Betting Strategies
Anyone got any strategies to beat the bookies other than keeping your money?

I've tried various methods and strategies, including matched betting which worked for a little while but ended up taking allot of time to earn a little money so I stopped.

WLD selections seem to suffer a bit at the moment as conditions are creating some erratic results, such as West Ham being 4th!

I like to try the odd pattern such as picking 2 x over 1.5 goals bets and putting 25% of pot every time and I use various stat providors such as Bet Dynamo and Forebet to find selections but still haven't landed on a succesful strategy.

Does it even exist?

What I have learned is that singles, doubles, trebbles at most is the way to do it rather than 5, 6, 7 match accumulators which rarely land.

If there was a strategy to beat the bookies, everyone would be doing it.

And to add to this, the bookies would have wised up and taken it away.

Match betting is the only guaranteed way to win, but the returns are usually small, so you have to do a fuck load to make a decent amount.

there's plenty of "tipsters", who usually bet on Goals Per Game, but add a few games together to bump the odds up.

Probably a name for it but I made some ‘guaranteed’ money (£180) around 5 years ago from opening new bookmaker accounts and using their free bets.
I would use my own money to choose a result to win, lose or draw. Then with the free money divide that up on the other two results so that whatever happened I was in profit.
You could only do it on certain odds though, usually when it was fairly close 2/1 across all 3 results.
Was a bit pain staking opening up the new accounts.

on betfair I have had some decent success at backing under 2.5 goals at kick off and then cashing out after 10 mins for about 10% of stake. There are various insurance bets to be made alongside it.

There are lots of youtube videos about it, if you can get over his voice a good place to start would be Ben Michaels and his youtube channel Sports Trading Life.

i know other people that lay the current score at half time and then back the overs. very little risk with high reward especially with late goals. This is a bit more in depth looking at in-play stats and match selections etc... so not for the casual punter.

The best betting strategy is to not bet and keep your money in your pocket/bank account.

That is effectively matched betting, offsetting free bets by laying the same bet. There are a few cmpanies that provide deals and calculators for that.

That's not a bad tactic, I'll have a look.

Laying the score at half time is effectively backing 0.5 goals in the second half and you can get haf decent odds. Had a little success but it's still worth doing some research as lost money on this too. I would often find the half time 0-0 and back over 0.5 goals.

Another tactic im looking at is an accumulator with an auto cash out as soon as it's in profit. Rather than going for the big wins, back a few teams that you think are going to win and are playing at the same time then stick an auto cash out for whatever profit you would be happy with, forget about the final result and then move on to another.

I've been on a brilliant run on the gee gee's... stuck £20.00 in my ac on Boxing day... backed Frodon... and from then on have steadily accumulated week on week to the tune of just under a monkey in my ladbrokes ac.... it would be nearer £650... but every football bet I have done has been a dud... so my strategy is to stick to the gee gee's and kick footy into touch

I love reading all the good luck stories so to address the balance here goes. I am not doing anything socially at the moment as being a good boy and following the rules. I am betting about £100 a week on the football and reckon I am well down this season. I don't normally bet that match but as I have the funds I thought why not. I have no strategy just jump on whatever I fancy. I have about as much like as Tiger Woods does on the road hence I am well in the red. I love it though. Get a buzz from it so will crack on. Don't make sense but there you go.

3 homes
3 draws
3 aways

All selections must be at evens or greater.

£1.01 ninefold
11p eightfold

so 2 quid down the drain

B365 pays 30% bonus on the 9 fold.

Expect to lose my 2 quid, but will win BIGLY (normally returns are at least 10K plus) IF it ever comes in.

I fail to see the point in betting £10 to £50 plus stakes in the hope of winning a few hundred quid. Might as well chuck away £104 a year doing this once a week with a very slim chance of a 20K to 50k plus win IMO.

NS,

I'm the opposite. Tried a few tipsters on horses, tried my own strategies etc but never found anything that looks remotely decent.

Re: Football Betting Strategies
lowermarsh,

I do like the cheap, nothing to lose (except a quid or two max) bets and stick a £1 on all prem draws most weeks just as a bit of a fun bet too.

I don't think there is a succesful strategy out there for accumultors as too many variables.

But I do think there are ways to win on the shorter odds with singles, doubles and trebbles.

The key I think is to look at the long term game and accumulate your winnings rather than looking for 1 big win but this just isn't as fun.

ie look at odds of about 1.25 or 1/4 on, stick a tenner on and make £12.5 then roll over and over and over. You can't really afford to lose though so it's still difficult.

JonWHUFC, good luck to you. Sounds like with that amount bet if any do come on it’ll be worthwhile!
I have no luck on the football, so do an EW patent now and again (3 singles, 3 doubles and a treble). It was my Dad’s favourite bet and laughed when he used to say Hayley ‘fucking’ Turner come in at 33/ today. Could never back her winners.
I never do favourites choose horses that are a good price, but not the rank outsider. Anything that looks like it might give you a run for your money.
IF you get one in at the higher SP, that more or less pays for your bet. Get two in for a double and two singles and pretty good how they can start to rack up on a return.
Always seen horses races as a puzzle where you try to take so many things into consideration from the information you can get.

The house ALWAYS wins.

If it didn't there wouldn't be a multi billion industry built around it.

The best way to beat the house is to cut it's oxygen supply.
